on this darkened night,

newly added in the heavens,

out of reach, but not of sight

Sometimes it will be hidden

when the sun comes out to play,

but it’s brilliance will return

as the light slowly fades away

Believing isn’t always seeing,

but knowing that it’s still there,

looking down peacefully,

the love that it will share

So please don’t get discouraged

when you don’t see it shining bright,

for it will always be there waiting for you, out of reach, but not of sight.

You just threw me aside

You just let me go

We used to talk every day

and sometimes late at night

We could talk about anything

You were important in my life

I was there for you when you needed

My support you never lacked

But when you should’ve done the same

You just turned your back

You told me you wouldn’t have made it through

The hard times that you had

Said you owed me a lot

For sticking by you when things were bad

You lied to my face

Pretended that you cared

Why go through all the trouble

When you were never really there

They say you’ll find out

Who your real friends are when times are really tough

The true will stick by your side

The fake will only bluff

Of all the conversations we had

The way you act, your trend

The mask you wear, your facade

My imaginary friend.

that i wouldn’t be able to have kids, 

only to have those fears validated, 

when my first pregnancy self terminated,

Decided to try and try again, 

but at  what cost? 

How many times can someone

go through that kind of loss? 

Started thinking of the future, 

and picking out names, 

that small glimmer of hope,

only to have my body choke

“It wasn’t you’re fault” and

“There’s nothing you could do”

 are the things that are said to you,

 but no amount of platitudes takes away the pain.

You hope that in time, 

your body and your mind

will heal and let you move on.

 But how when your precious child is gone?

You fight with yourself, 

the sadness sinks in, 

you tell yourself it won’t happen again, 

but you don’t really know.

You scream at God “why”,

“why did my baby have to die”.

 Heart fills with hate,  it saturates,

 making you want to give up.

What happened’s not fair, 

this love i had to share

now ruined and tainted,

it’s wasted. 

Try to think positive, 

try to find peace, 

try to make the continuous sobbing cease, 

but it’s hard

It’s hard to find that when the Man above, 

ripped away your precious baby,

 the one you so loved,

you had no chance to hold them in your arms, unable to protect them from harm.

Try to convince yourself that maybe it just wasn’t meant to be,

 hard as you might

you don’t really see, –

don’t understand why.

All you want to do is cry.

No I won’t forget you

even though your life was brief

No amount of time will heal this pain I feel

this grief

Days have turned into months

and months will turn to years

and everyday that passes

I’ll  wish  that you were here

An ocean of crashing waves

Not a glimmer of hope in sight

Completely lost

I’m needing saved

Rain pouring down on me

Hopelessness sinking in

Don’t know what brought me here

This disaster I’m now in

Waves rocking uncontrollably

Shaking me to my core

Winds forcing me further in

Far from where I was before

This storm tearing me apart

My heart nearing its demise

Soon all that’s left a shell

My soul will be capsized

Finally I see a shining light

A distance seeming far away

I must hold strong and brave this storm

The light I’ll reach some day.

 and the day that I met you,

if only i knew what I know now,

would it have changed what I went through 

Everyone wishes they could go back

To change the past in some way, 

but if they did they wouldn’t be

who they are this day

Do you ever wonder

the what if’s and what not’s,

the “shoulda-woulda-coulda’s”

and if I hadn’t ever been caught?

If you’d made a different choice, 

and where you might be now,

who would be in your life,

 the who, the why, the how

I think about it often,

imagine different possibilities, 

makes me question if I could, 

who would I now be

Do you ever stop and think, 

gee if only I could, 

but if you really change it all

do you think you actually would?

makes your worries melt away

gliding effortlessly across the ice

flying some might say

The look, the feel, the chilliness

brings back those memories

of times many years ago

and how life used to be

The joy and tranquility

carving stories with your soles

letting everything wash away

floating – but in control

The moment your blades meet the ice

it’s as though all time has ceased

nothing matters outside the rink

you’re finally at peace.

So much it’s beyond repair

Try as I might to figure out

It’s identity remains unclear

Usually I take no notice

Continue day in and day out

But something triggers inside me

This thing comes back – it shouts

Why can I not comprehend

or grasp this thing I miss

Why do I forget so easily

This thing I wish to fix

This piece that is malfunctioning

How I wish I could repair

But once again it will subside

and I’ll forget that it’s not there

Maybe one day the fog will clear

Realization suddenly hitting me

And the answer to what is broken

try to impress and be that which was sought

I realize now that instead of giving in

for myself I should have fought

I tried so hard and for so long

to be someone I’m not

I didn’t realize until too late

it was myself that I’d forgot

Now I’m working towards

repairing what was all for naught

and to finally reunite with me

I thought that I was strong

but seeing you only for a moment

I know now that I was wrong

The dreams and thoughts I have of you

trickle from night into my day

I wish that I could tell you everything

but I wouldn’t know what to say

All the moments we had together

the pictures on my shelf

remind me that I’m no longer the one you fell for

I’ve become someone else

As the dust collects on the frames

and the boxes are put away

so will time continue ticking

 and the memories will fade.
